Need help with the psp og stick?

I currently have a psp 1000. And when I try to play games such as in's creed bloodlines, I move with my d pad. I can only move with my og stick. Is this natural? I just got my psp today. So is there any way I can play my games, using a d pad to move. I will choose best answer
